Throughout my adult life, I’ve never stepped far from building. I’ve remodeled dozens of homes, refinished and restored hundreds of hardwood floors, and gained a deep understanding of how good construction blends skill, durability, and design.

 

Along the way, I also built a successful career in real estate investing, founding Copper Range Holdings and growing a short-term rental portfolio of remodeled properties. That work taught me not only how to recognize and unlock the potential in a structure, but also how quality craftsmanship directly impacts long-term value.

Before fully committing to Canvasback Builders, I served more than two decades in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. In that role, I led global teams, managed multimillion-dollar operations, and developed people at every level to achieve more than they thought possible.

 

Those years instilled in me the same principles I bring to every job site: integrity, attention to detail, and respect for the people I serve.

 

Today, Canvasback Builders is the result of a lifetime of learning, leading, and building. We are a fully licensed and insured contracting and remodeling firm serving Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

 

Inspired by the strength of the canvasback duck, we focus on creating homes and spaces that are built to last, crafted to endure U.P. winters, and tailored to the families who live in them.

 

Outside of Canvasback Builders, I also teach Industrial Arts at Hancock High School, helping students gain hands-on skills in woodworking, metalworking, and design. Passing on the values of craftsmanship and problem-solving to the next generation is something I’m deeply passionate about.

 

For me, building has never been just about structures — it’s about creating something meaningful, lasting, and true to the people and the place it belongs.
